From the present time new demands are emerging for the next five years. This is because the kitchen world up to the present time and for more that 10 years has undergone a major transformation. Over the old conception of kitchen furniture with doors a new kitchen based on aesthetic models has prevailed, with a functional technology relationship that allows the adaptation to any space and meet the customers' requirements. Today's kitchen has reached a new concept, which from now on will become more widespread and will be complemented with new fittings and applicances.<br /><br />The interaction between fittings and furniture is proving to be a new trend for the future<br /><br /><em>Prevalence of minimalism</em><br /><br />If we pay close attention to detail, the novelties have been showing minimalism as the centerpiece and have enabled to outline nowadays an ideal set of means and solutions so that this style can offer new developments and household aplications of new quality in the near future. Minimalist style in kitchens is up-to-date and will be so within the next five years.<br /><br /><em>Multifunctionality and customization</em><br /><br />Both kitchen customization and multifunctionality signify the future of the kitchen and are shaping a new kitchen with more personality, adapted to the needs and tastes of users. When we talk about needs we are tackling different problems if we mean large families, eco-friendly food lovers, young enthusiasts of precooked food or older people with specific needs and greater accessibility requirements.<br /><br />Both furniture and fittings will move forward to offer greater confort in the different stages of use of the kitchen and in every specific area. The automated fittings for wire baskets and drawers are sparking a new generation of novelty fittings. Smooth, safe, comfortable, making the best use of space and flexible in use. The interaction between fittings and furniture will bring new solutions. Automatization will come along with new mechanisms or intuitive switchs that can be turned on and off by finger contact or soft touch.<br /><br /><em>Environment and energy saving</em><br /><br />These are the new prescriptions for the future, or in other words the concepts that set the trend for a sustainable future. To an ever widespread awarenesss in these aspects, new regulations set the pace, ever more demanding, so that the industrial processes become less polluting and applicances more efficient and energy saving.<br /><br /><em>High design</em><br /><br />External appearance is the most significant and visible element in the kitchen. From the kitchen strictly designed to cook we are shifting to a kitchen for living. It will be in the years to come when this concept will develop and aim at wider sectors of society. Kitchens with higher aesthetic development which will be used not only for cooking but will become the centre of family life. A shared place where kids will do their homework and their parents will read the paper. Research made by some manufacturers talks to us about minimalist furniture in blocks where the different elements of the kitchen conceal when not in use and offer the possibility of being used for other purposes.
